Three teenage girls were tragically killed by a train while trying to cross a bridge in Melbourne last night. The girls tried to move from the path of the train once they saw it coming, but could not make it in time.

A fourth teen was able to make it off the bridge. He said he tried to get their attention, but it was too late.

The accident happened Saturday night near Melbourne Avenue and US-1 in Melbourne. Officials are unsure what led the teens to walk onto Crane Creek Bridge.

The stopped train closed down the crossing for two hours while investigators worked to find the parents of the victims.
